Job losses since January 2001 have topped 4.1 million, according to Challenger, Gray & Christmas, the Chicago outplacement experts. Job growth, meanwhile, has not made up for losses -- the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics says that 2.6 million fewer people are employed now than in January 2001.
